  1. Can you please post on the blog a few pre-test questions like you did with the mea culpa test. A couple of specific questions that are similar to the ones on the quiz please

  2. Uh... if you can do all of Problem Set 7A and 7B (btw, the answers for 7B are on the MathChamber Unit 7 webpage)... you are in very good shape... the chapter review (pages 475/476) is full of wonderful (quiz-like) questions... I'll try to post a video or two by tonight... let me know if there is a particular question youfind perplexing... I won't be around on Sunday except for the morning, so if you want me to answer a question directly, you better ask today.

Otherwise, I would love for the bunch of you to use the blog as it was intended, to ask and answer questions amongst yourselves.

    Best of Luck!
    Mr. C.

  4. In your 7-3 video, you say that (r^-4)^2 is equal to r^-8 That is how you get the answer but why? wouldn't it be (r^-4)(r^-4) so r^8? how would you break it down?

  5. no Evan. Mr.c is right because when the equation is in parenthesis and outside the parenthesis is an exponent then you multipy them together. Its a property i forget the name.
    For example:
(r^-2)^4 would be -2x4 or -8 because you multiply the exponents do you get it now?

  6. Evan is right AND wrong... Evan is correct to say that (r^-4)^2 breaks down to (r^-4)(r^-4), however this is where you made your mistake... when you multiply powers of the same base you ADD THE EXPONENTS... and we all know from September that (-4) + (-4) = -8, yes?

Danie is right... The "shortcut" power-rules version would be this:

(r^-4)^2 = r^-8, since when you have a "power of a power" you multiply the exponents, and 2(-4) = -8.

Life, like math, can be so "power"-ful, eh?

btw Evan & Maggie, I think I can add 20 yards to your drives this year... why aren't you registering for my MEF golf clinic???
