I'm having trouble on #10. I used the ADD POE, DIV POE, and combined like terms. I can't find what's wrong. Here is what I did: 7-y-y=-1 7-2y=-1 (combined like terms) +7 +7 -2/-2y= 6/-2 y=3 Please Help. -Maggie
for number 10 i got y=3. 7-y-y=-1 combine like terms and you get 7-2y=-1 adding 7 to both sides you get 2y\2=6\2 so if you divide 6 by 2 you get 3 so i got y=3 but when i checked it was1 i cant see my mistake

You added 7 to 7... you should have _________?
ReplyDeleteSubtracted 7? Then divided by -8 by -2 to get 4.
ReplyDeleteAre you asking me or telling me?
ReplyDeleteWhen you check y=4, does it make the original equation TRUE??

ReplyDeleteDoes the conversation with Maggie (above) help?
ReplyDeleteTelling. It does make the equation true.
