1) Unit 9 Cumulative Review
2) MHS Review Packet (handed out in class)
3) Apart from the two assignments above, AND as I have stated in class --- I feel that the BEST use of
your time would be to "thumb thru" the individual chapter reviews in our text book,
re-familiarize yourself with some the concepts and do a few problems
here and there. All of the answers are in the text book.
TEXT BOOKS SHOULD BE RETURNED ON THE DAY YOU TAKE THE FINAL EXAM!!!
This Blog exists for the collective benefit of all algebra students. While the posts are specific to Mr. Chamberlain's class, any and all "algebra-ticians" are welcome. The more specific your question (including your own attempts to answer it) the better.

hw's 10-1, 10-2 and the Cumulative Review
This is a HUGE assignment, since most of you did not do the Unit 1-9 Assignment over the weekend. You will have a brief quiz next Monday, June 4th on Pythagorean Theorem and Radical Expressions (10-1 and 10-2) and the FINAL EXAM will be on Friday, June 8th. I will provide one more assignment for final exam prep... PREPARE AS YOU SEE FIT... I'm here to assist as best I can.
If you can't do all of the Odds, maybe do every other odd... you decide what works for you.
hw #10-2
pg 623
#1-21 Odd, 22
Treat the questions as open-ended as best you can. Ignore the "directions" which ask you to record your answers "in a grid."
Do the work on separate notebook or graph paper and hand-in as a stand-alone assignment on Tuesday.

hw #9-6 The Quadratic Formula
Not too much homework this time for next class...
Be sure to view the NEW videos on MathChamber Academy... I'm sure that you will find them helpful. We didn't discuss the "discriminant" (b^2 - 4ac) in class (we will next time), but you can read about it in the book (section 9-6). Feel free to ask me questions as well.

hw #8-6 FACTORING IS FUN... AND EASY!!!
Essentially, we are in REVIEW MODE for Thursday's UNIT 8 TEST!!
SECTION 8-8 FACTORING BY GROUPING IS NOT ON THE TEST!!
The hw posting on MathChamber is up-to-date through the end of the unit.
Remember... ALWAYS LOOK FOR GCF's first... then, if you have a quadratic, give the "SYMMETRY OF THE BOX" a try. Knowing the SPECIALS will save you time, but the BOX will always work.
Watch for some videos this weekend... I am taking "REQUESTS" for specific problems if you get them to me early enough.

hw #7-1 Zero & Negative Exponents
a.k.a. "How to have fun and be miserable at the same time!!"
Remember... "The path to understanding is paved with confusion"
I'm not sure if anyone actually ever said this, so if not - I claim it!
How about this one? "If you're not confused, you're not really trying"
It all boils down to this simple fact: "Confusion is good!"

hw #6-7 Problem Set 6R and the Chapter Review & Test
Hello All,
I looked at the Chapter Review (pg 408-410) #1-32 and all problems look reasonable to me. As for word problems, if I were you I would make sure that I focus on our Problem Sets - the style and the wording of the problems on our test will mirror the Problem Sets much more so than the text book. The word problems on the Chapter Test (pg 411) are written in a style that doesn't actually ask a question, just that you "model the situation." I would rather that you answer a question, so don't focus on the word problems on the Chapter Test. Problems #1-12 on the Chapter Test are all reasonable in my view.
To reiterate, you shouldn't feel obligated to do every problem... do every third problem or so as a first pass and see how you do. Are you happy with your results? You can probably stop there.
I'll try to post a few videos this weekend.
See you on Monday,
Mr. C.

hw for President's Weekend
Due to the difficulty in having everyone take the quiz this past Wednesday, there will be a RE-QUIZ (or first quiz for a few of you) on Tuesday, Feb 21st. EVERYONE should be checking in on the blog this weekend to prepare for the quiz. POST YOUR QUESTIONS HERE!!!
=================================================
= Sorry about the poor handwriting or rough sound quality... but:
= Question 2 " " " " "
= Question 3 " " " " "
= Question 7 " " " " "
=
= Please let me know if this helped you!
=================================================
ALSO, you should be pre-reading section 6-5 "Graphing Linear Inequalities" because we will be working JOINTLY on Section 6-5 & 6-6 on Weds immediately after the BRIEF QUIZ.
I would love to get an INDIVIDUAL email from each and every one of you, in an attempt to develop an individual improvement plan. I know that many of you would like to improve your grade, I would like to improve your algebraic understanding... it just so happens that our goals match up nicely!
Please tell/text/facebook your alge-buddies about this blog post... it's a long time between classes and very few of us are in position to make it an "algbra-free" weekend.
Besides all that, ENJOY YOUR WEEKEND!!
Mr. C.
